I was born and raised on a farm in Candelo, Australia, about seven hours from Sydney. I’ve lived in the states for the past ten years making and releasing music whilst performing around the world. In 2017 I decided to take a break from the industry, since then I have grown as a producer, and my artistic style has changed. Being off the road gave me time to focus on creating again and I honed in on a new goal of learning to sing. Singing has completely changed the way I think about and create music, I am incredibly excited to share this new journey with you all! 
 
This new era begins with my first new single, “Sandman.” The song slowly came to life over a four-year period, adding all the elements bit by bit to finally create the full track using an array of vintage synths and a live drum kit. I was influenced by rock & roll music at this time so wanted to give the song a more aggressive edge, filled with a huge bass line and melodic leads to create the full experience! With the lyrical meaning of the song I prefer you to take away your own interpretation as that's truly what art is. But if I had to describe it in one word it would be unification!
 
Over the past few years, the industry landscape has changed drastically. Even so, no shift has been more compelling than the power of the NFT community and web3. Being new to the NFT community, this is something that I’m really excited about! There is no better time to enter the community than on the heels of new music, it feels like the perfect storm!

I wrote 'In the Leaves' about a dream I had before I decided to quit my stable, full-time design job.

In the dream I kept waking up outside — on the sidewalk in San Francisco, and later in the leaves by a road. I kept choosing that over my bed, and it felt surprisingly calm to wake up outside of my home.

I had a session with Benji Cormack and we talked about this dream and how it seemed to mirror my life choice of staying in the comfort of a full-time job or leaving to focus on music and being satisfied with less.

I quit the job and now I've put out the song.

In the Leaves #1

When I was in college I got ahold of The Chainsmokers’ managers’ e-mail address. They had just dropped a record called “Everybody Hates Me” and as a new producer on the scene I wanted to take a pass at remixing it. I figured the best case scenario would be The Chainsmokers noticing me and taking me on a world tour with them and the worst case would be no response. To my surprise, the stems were sitting in my inbox within the hour. For the first time in my life, I had a fully processed, industry-standard engineered vocal that I could do anything with. The possibilities were endless. 

I skipped class for a week and went back and forth on seven or eight different versions of the remix - and while I didn’t get the Chainsmokers to sign off on it, I did fall in love with a new process of making music. For the next few years I would wake up every morning, go to New Music Friday on Spotify, track down management e-mails on the artists’ Facebook “about” section and beg for stems. Over the years, I put out a bunch of remixes for various artists - but more importantly I slowly compiled high quality vocals that I could mess with in my spare time. To this day, that remains one of my preferred method of working on records with people; “Ball!” with Kevin George (which was my last sound drop) happened from him sending me an acapella and my imagination running with it.

At the time, I was paid for remixes with exposure - and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. People started listening to my music on Soundcloud for the first time and I started to meet my first music friends through that experience. A lot of them are still my friends today.

However, there are a slew of examples of remixes that came out that went on to perform better than the original song did. More times than not, the remixer is paid in either exposure (like me), or a one time buyout fee which is typically $250 or less for smaller artists. Most of the time, the remixers - who breathe new life into the record - see no upside in the event that the remix is a smash. These artists are also overlooked often and don’t get a chance to tell their musical stories.

The Glass House remixes is a 4 pack of my favorite reworks off my EP “Glass House”. Every remix came out incredible, and flipped my songs into a way I never saw coming.

The pack features artists who vary in Web3 experience - from vets like Clear Eyes and MSFT to newcomers like Veggi and Cudos, I’m stoked to present the first Daniel Allan Remix pack on Sound.

I wrote Ego in a writing session with Dan Henig and Linden Jay who both worked with me on Cherry Wine.  I think this is their first times being involved in an NFT so I'm stoked that I can help bring some fellow creators into the web 3.0 space with me on this journey. 

I hope that I'm going to extend my collector-base with this release and welcome more NFT collectors into my community.  I'm about to be doing lots of touring all over the place and so I'm hoping that I'll be able to connect with collectors in different cities around the world, that would be so cool.

“Dream Hotel,” the new song from Grammy-nominated songwriter, singer, actress and businesswoman Tayla Parx, premieres today via her own TaylaMade Records. Co-produced by Parx, Oliver Frid and Heavy Mello with lyrical contributions from Lara Andersson, “Dream Hotel” is the third track revealed from her upcoming project, Many Moons, Many Suns. 

 “I wrote this song on a couch in Nashville, clumsily finding the right chords and words that matched the way I was feeling at the time,” recalls Parx. “The Dream Hotel is a real hotel in New York City and I’ve had so many crazy memories there, one of them being where me and my ex broke up. This song reflects on those moments in that room on that night and the growth I experienced in the many difficult months after. Sonically, it’s one of my favorite songs I’ve released yet.”

"When DEEGAN and Mija combine forces it’s hot to the touch. Their song “I’m My Own Enemy” is a one-listen bottle rocket that begs to be played on repeat. It’s punk meets hyperpop. Aggressive, manic, and totally fun, it hits like a carnival ride that yearns to be revisited at least a dozen times, yet somehow never becomes dizzying. 

Written together and produced by DEEGAN, here's how the duo describes “I’M MY OWN ENEMY”:

“I've been making a lot of soul and r&b, but started hitting a wall. I was like, ‘I'm angry. I can't do this. I'm too distracted. I'm too in my own head,’ so I wanted to make something aggressive to get my energy out. Every artist has that feeling of the cloud hanging over them like, ‘You have to do this. You have to do that,” says DEEGAN. 

“I mostly only write good songs when I'm either really fucking mad or really fucking sad,” Mija chimes in with encouraging affirmation.

Who are Beachcrimes? We’re a duo from LA and we spent the last year making songs in hotel rooms around the world. Beachcrimes is the soundtrack to that adventure.
 
We made a lot of songs, and we’re excited to share them. All of them. This year we’re releasing 24 songs in 48 weeks. If we’re being real, it’s actually two albums – there’s AM and there’s PM. AM is the lite stuff, PM is the nite stuff. Think of it like the Summer Olympics and Winter Olympics, but for dance music.

“Love In Portofino” is the 6th gem in the crown of our 24-song opus, and the third single from our AM album. Crafted in the picturesque town of - you guessed it - Portofino, Italy, we couldn’t resist interpolating a classic Italian love song as we watched the sunset over the bay. We sampled the street sounds of the town and added it as ambience under the entire track (you can hear it clearly at the very end). We guarantee this will be your parents’ favorite Beachcrimes song. And it might just be ours too.

Love In Portofino #3

LOVESICK is the first collaboration between Dot and Goodnight Cody on Sound, as well as Cody’s genesis drop on Sound. 

Dot and Cody first met in 2012 through production collective TeamSupreme, and have been friends and collaborators for over ten years. 

This drop will help to fund some much needed gear purchases for both artists: Cody needs to finally replace his 2014 MacBook, and Dot’s monitors just bit the dust after 8 years of use. 

The winner of the Golden Egg will have a special cameo* in the music video for LOVESICK, as well as receive a Dot Merch Package.

I arrive at my session at pink slip’s 4 hours late happy that everyone waited around and was still inspired to create. from that day came crying in sunshine. I love blues music.  obviously love hip hop as well. I love a lot of things. 

I really like when a record feels honest and depicts a moment, though.

Different Way is a brand new track that I recorded specifically for my first Sound.xyz release and was performed, arranged, and mixed by myself and mastered by Genzo Rubin. It will also, subsequently, be the first track that I upload to DSPs under the Weinbagz moniker. I started my journey as a full time producer and my journey into web3 at roughly the same time in early 2021. I remember back to when I was thinking seriously about what being a producer/songwriter would actually look like. While there was always the possibility of getting attention and eyes on my music, I did not see a path to being able to feed myself from my work. Enter web3. Over the past 2 years, I’ve created more financial freedom for myself than I ever could have hoped for with going strictly the traditional route with music.

I’ve also been trying to figure out how to start integrating a web2 presence alongside my presence in web3, because I do believe in my music and I know that distribution is very limited when looking at web3 and NFTs. So, when I’m referring to a “Different Way”, or finding “Our Own Way”, this is the dynamic I’m referencing. I’m always looking for the intersection of music, tech, and audience. So merging my Sound genesis along with my Spotify genesis only made sense.

To further marry these two worlds, I will also be including the name of the Golden Egg winner in the track title when uploading to DSPs (unless they express not to be included). I figure it’s another way to take the fans on the journey with me and feature the true supporters.
